Chiang Mai, with a population of 170,000 plus, is the second largest city in Thailand. It is also the busiest city in northern Thailand, with a large number of travellers adding to the hustle and bustle. Its location on a plain 316m above sea level gives Chiang Mai a picturesque setting. The mountains surrounding the area and the lush greenery everywhere will tempt you to stay on forever. Chiang Mai is much quieter than Thailand's capital city and has a notable expatriate population. There are many Chiang Mai hotels to accommodate the large number of visitors to the area.
